Application Approved!

Application Approved!

Stages 1 & 2 of our application to become a Community Sponsor have now been fully approved by the Home Office and the countdown begins to welcome our first family to Penwith. It's not been the easiest process, and has taken us nearly 14 months, but we're finally there. Preparations are now well under way in the lead up to the family's arrival in 2 months time. From securing school places and organising English lessons to collecting clothes and furniture donations - the list goes on! We really couldn’t have done it without all your ongoing encouragement and support. What a wonderful community Penwith is. Special thanks to our partner charity, Charis Refugees, for guiding us through the process. Bring on the summer!

In particular, reflecting on the unfolding situation in Ukraine. Thank you to the BBC Radio Cornwall team for giving us the opportunity to participate in the discussion! Our fundraising journey so far - WE DID IT

Our fundraising journey so far - WE DID IT

WE DID IT! (But we want to do more!) We can’t believe it, but a month and a half in and we’ve hit our target of £9k ! You may be wondering where we go from here... The £9,000 is a figure given by the Home Office based on a family of two adults, they suggest £4,500 per adult to help them settle in for the first couple of years. We hope to offer a safe home to at least two adults, but quite possibly more, and children. This means we will keep pushing on with our fundraising, every penny we raise will make sure they are settled and integrated in the best possible way. We really do mean when we say, we have been utterly blown away by the communities response and generosity, and we really couldn’t be doing this without you all. Happy World Refugee Day everyone!
